Job Title:
Robot Data Collection Technician Job Description This position supports the development of advanced robotic systems by providing high-quality human teleoperation data. The role requires operating a sophisticated robotic arm through specialized interfaces like gamepads, joysticks, or wearable/VR controllers. The operator will perform repetitive tasks such as setting up physical scenes, guiding the robot through assigned workflows, resetting objects, and ensuring complete and accurate data capture through built-in logging tools. Collaboration with engineers and scientists to train robots, provide feedback on robot behavior, refine data-collection protocols, and support onboarding processes for future operators is essential. This position involves full-time onsite work in a robotics lab and includes hands-on interaction with cutting-edge robotics platforms. Responsibilities Operate a sophisticated robotic arm using interfaces like gamepads, joysticks, or VR controllers. Perform repetitive tasks including setting up scenes, guiding the robot, resetting objects, and ensuring data capture. Collaborate with engineers and scientists to train robots and provide feedback on robot behavior. Help refine data-collection protocols and support the creation of onboarding processes for new operators. Identify and clearly report system issues. Maintain focus across repetitive tasks for extended periods. Essential Skills Data collection and engineering knowledge. Bachelor's degree in engineering, STEM, or related field. Experience in software development, game testing, or game development. Proficiency in Python and virtual reality environments. Strong attention to detail and comfort with technology. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate or bachelor's degree preferred, especially in STEM disciplines. Experience with robotics, hardware projects, or gaming interfaces is highly valued. Strong communication skills for reporting issues and collaborating with engineers/scientists. Ability to follow structured procedures and provide feedback for improvements. Interest in robotics, automation, or human-robot interaction. Work Environment The position is full-time onsite in a robotics laboratory environment with a standard schedule of 40 hours per week, offering flexibility such as 9-5 or 10-6. It is a highly collaborative environment, working alongside engineers, technicians, and scientists. The role involves hands-on interaction with robotic hardware, controllers, and software interfaces. Tasks include scene setup, teleoperation, cleanup, and reset. Early hires will play a part in building onboarding processes and training new team members. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Woburn, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.12 - $40.12/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
