Job Description

Under the direction of the Case Management Supervisor, perform varied technical work to determine the eligibility of applicants for Morongo Tribal TANF Program (MTTP) assistance and services; interview applicants and review required documentation for the purpose of eligibility verification, processing assistance benefits, and making referrals to appropriate community services. Coordinate and track services designed to assist potentially eligible Native American families apply for and obtain MTTP services; includes the intake and verification of applications and required documents and the provision of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) assistance benefits; assure compliance with established standards, laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures. Interview applicants to obtain and verify reported data to make an eligibility determination; review verification documents for completeness and accuracy; analyze income and personal information to determine initial or continuing eligibility for program services, including review of Time on Aid and other welfare related services; interpret regulations and requirements for various assistance programs available to low-income families. Establish, maintain, and utilize extensive contacts with community resources and government agencies providing related services and assistance; contact individual government agencies, schools, Tribes, and employers to verify eligibility data and/or to clarify discrepancies or gaps in information; serve as the program liaison to County partners and other Tribal TANF providers for verification and reconciliation of information; assure mandated reports are submitted to the appropriate agencies according to established timelines. Adhering to professional ethical standards of working in a social service Community resources providing employment, welfare, and related services Applicable laws, code, regulations, policies, and procedures. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Awareness and sensitivity to Native American culture and traditions. Operation of a computer and assigned software Technical aspects of field of specialty. Public relations techniques. A minimum of two (2) years' experience in the provision of case management or eligibility and High School Diploma required; Associate's Degree and experience in a social services agency preferred.
