Job Description

Job Summary:
Obtain from the physicians' offices the demographic information about the prospective patients in order to begin insurance verification process. Insurance verification will be done to identify eligibility, benefits, deductibles, and copay amounts due from patients as well as contacting patients prior to surgery and informing them of financial obligations. Essential Functions of the
Position:
Obtain demographic information for insurance verification. Responsible for pre-verification of insurance for patients scheduled for surgery. Ensure insurance coverage via contact with patient's insurance company and insurance contract via online insurance portal software or through phone contact directly with insurance carrier. Verify eligibility of procedure in an ASC setting. Prepare estimated patient financial responsibilities. Contact patients to inform them of their financial responsibility. Educate patients on benefit information as needed. Collects co-pays and deductibles, complete receipts, and secure payments. Resolve any issues with insurance coverage and escalates complicated issues to manager.
Additional Responsibilities:
Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned, including assisting with Check In/Admitting Coordinator and Scheduling Coordinator duties as needed. Maintains all required regulatory training and participates in mandatory drills and staff meetings. Follow all department policies.
Physical and Mental Demands:
Ability to stand, sit, and move for extended periods. Occasional bending, occasional 50-pound lifting, and reaching for supplies, or equipment. Normal concentration and normal complexity of decision making High level verbal and written communication skills Above average ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Occupational Exposure:
Low risk exposure to bloodborne pathogens and chemical hazards.
Job Qualifications:
High school graduate or GED equivalent Previous insurance verification or medical office experience preferred Strong customer service orientation Basic computer proficiency Excellent telephone etiquette Current BLS, or completed within 90 days of hire
