Full Job Description Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Authorization Specialist to join our growing team. As an Authorization Specialist, you will play a crucial role in facilitating the efficient processing of insurance authorizations for our patients. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of insurance verification and authorization processes, particularly within the context of spine and joint healthcare services.
Responsibilities:
Insurance Verification:
Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility for spine and joint procedures. Confirm and document patient benefit information, including deductibles, co-pays, and coverage limits.
Authorization Processing:
Initiate and manage the authorization process for spine and joint treatments with various insurance providers. Stay current on insurance regulations and policies to ensure accurate and timely authorization submissions. Collaborate with healthcare providers to gather necessary clinical documentation for authorization requests. Initiate prior authorizations for medications
Communication:
Act as a liaison between the clinic, insurance companies, and patients to resolve any authorization-related issues. Communicate authorization status updates to relevant stakeholders, including clinic staff and patients.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of authorization requests, approvals, and denials. Ensure compliance with all relevant documentation and reporting requirements.
Problem Resolution:
Proactively identify and address potential issues that may impact the authorization process. Work collaboratively with internal teams to resolve any authorization-related challenges.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma required; Degree in science, healthcare administration, business, billing/coding, or related field preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in healthcare field, with a focus on insurance verification and authorization processes. Familiarity with spine and joint procedures and terminology is a plus.
Skills:
Strong understanding of insurance regulations, policies, and procedures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities. Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and insurance verification tools.
Team Player:
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Demonstrated commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
