Job Description

We are seeking an Enrollment and Outreach Specialist to work on-site for a well respected community based clinic in Blue Island. The Specialist would work 8:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday. The clinic provides services to the underserved patients in Blue Island and South Chicago. Excellent opportunity for career advancement working in a dynamic healthcare setting. Position Summary The Enrollment and Outreach (E&O) Specialist is responsible in reaching out to patients and the community to enroll uninsured individuals in state, federal, and private insurances or redetermination for state, federal, and private insurances. Primary Responsibilities ▪ Contacting uninsured patients to determine which insurance coverage is right for them. ▪ Contacting patients from redetermination list that is provided by health plans to assist them with obtaining insurance coverage. ▪ Effectively communicating with patients to help them understand the benefits and differences of the programs and requirements for their participation. ▪ Scheduling patients for face-to-face meetings for the application completion, collecting supporting documentation and submitting the necessary documentation in accordance with application requirements. ▪ Completing appropriate internal documentation and follow up requirements to monitor the success of the program. ▪ Receiving and redirecting calls from the insurance hotline. ▪ Greet and interact with all patients, staff and visitors in a pleasant and professional manner. ▪ Monitor and update work lists and queues to ensure that no patients are subjected to unnecessary delays ▪ Knowledgeable of (and in compliance with) applicable standards, laws and regulations by regulatory and accrediting organizations such as: BPHC, JCAHO, CLIA, OSHA, and the State and Federal Governments. ▪ Regularly check mail, e-mail and voicemail and respond promptly and professionally to all inquiries. ▪ Work a reasonable schedule, which may include an assignment at our satellite location (Blue Island, IL) and during any of the hours that the Health Center provides services. ▪ Interpret for limited English proficiency patient/clients in the absence of an interpreter, if bilingual. ▪ Perform other tasks required in support of the assigned team, but which are not detailed within this job description. Required Skills or Abilities ▪ Good interpersonal skills are a necessity, including an ability to work well with the variety of ages, cultures, and temperaments represented among the staff and patients, treating others with kindness and professionalism. ▪ Computer skills required (Windows based, experience with Microsoft Office). Typing speed of 45 wpm. ▪ Excellent telephone communication skills ▪ Commitment to demonstrating personal integrity through punctuality, honesty, an ability to follow instructions, proper attention to details, and a willingness learn from others. ▪ An ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment. ▪ Flexibility to adapt to changing or stressful conditions, including unanticipated changes to working schedules or locations. ▪ Adequate written and verbal communication skills for communicating coherently and professionally with patients and co-workers. Experience ▪ High School Diploma or its equivalent, preferred associate degree. Minimum two years' experience in customer service, office and/or clinical setting. ▪ Bilingual is a plus!
