Job Description
Primary Purpose of Position Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Minnesota is a dynamic mentoring agency that provides youth with professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships. We are currently seeking a full-time Enrollment Specialist. This position has the primary responsibility of enrolling volunteers and youth into the program, ensuring high standards of child safety while promoting a positive enrollment experience. The Enrollment Specialist uses sound judgment and Big Brothers Big Sisters standards to assess volunteer and youth readiness, with a strong focus on customer service, child safety, and creating meaningful and lasting match relationships. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Enrollment & Assessment Conduct client enrollments, including parent/child interviews, child safety education, and related processes. Assess and refer families for additional or alternative services as needed. Assess volunteer eligibility and conduct volunteer enrollments, including reference checks, interviews, and additional processes. Determine the need for home visits and complete them when appropriate. Safety & Risk Management Apply a high level of skill and knowledge related to child safety and risk management. Identify and address any safety issues involving volunteers, children, or families. Matching & Recommendations Review enrollment data and make informed recommendations for program participation. Align volunteer interests and qualifications with youth needs to create successful, safe, and lasting matches. Ensure all training requirements are completed by volunteers, children, and parents. Communication & Follow-Up Analyze and interpret enrollment data to make informed decisions. Follow up on references to gather complete and relevant assessment information. Conduct reassessments and updates for volunteers and clients as needed. Identify and help remove barriers that prevent completion of the enrollment process. Collaboration & Documentation Collaborate with other service delivery staff to ensure seamless transitions and communication across functions. Maintain accurate and timely records using appropriate technology and databases. Use collected data to report, synthesize, and analyze trends and outcomes. Other Perform other duties as assigned. Experience, education, degrees, and licenses Four-year degree required, preferably in psychology, counseling, social work, human services, or a related field. Minimum one-year experience in relating to and managing volunteers, preferred. Ability to establish rapport with children and adults from diverse backgrounds Ability to initiate, organize priorities and tasks to completion with minimal supervision Excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail and presentation skills Must be proficient with personal computers and software applications Physical demands/Work environment Must be able to work proficiently with computers and other office equipment. Required to travel approximately 25% of the time to meet potential clients and volunteers. Travel is generally within service area. Must have reliable transportation. Drivers of privately owned vehicles must have valid driver's license and meet state required automobile insurance minimums. Must be able to pass a background check consisting of National Sex Offender, Criminal History, driving check and fingerprinting.
