Job Description
Under general supervision of JFS Supervisor, JFS Manager or higher-level administrator, performs all requisite eligibility determination casework functions; reviews and processes applications for various public assistance programs, conducts interviews in an inbound and outbound call center environment or other customer service/office environment, verifies documentation, provides information on available resources, manages a caseload and meets strict deadlines. Determines eligibility for public assistance programs such as Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), Ohio Works First (OWF), Medicaid, and Emergency Assistance PRC; Conducts interviews with applicants in an inbound and outbound call center environment to gather information about income, expenses, household composition; respond to routine inquiries; Verifies documentation provided by applicants such as birth certificates, social security cards, and rent receipts; Explains to applicants/recipients their rights, procedures, programs, policies and available services; Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of applicants' information, decisions made, and benefits awarded in state eligibility determination system; Coordinates with other agencies and service providers to refer applicants to additional resources and support services; Prepares reports; compute income, expenses, deductions, allowances, over/under payments; Reports findings and amounts of improper payments; make referrals to investigative-recovery unit; Provides follow-up; assist applicants/recipients with completing forms and applications, produce relative correspondence; receive and investigate complaints; Prepares notification letters to recipients of authorization, suspension, reduction, or termination of assistance; Attends hearings; prepares summaries; processes corrections; ensures benefit and supportive service decisions are made in accordance with regulations and procedures; Completes special assignments; Cooperates with law enforcement agencies, judicial and governmental officials and agencies; testifies in court when necessary; maintains investigative records and prepares reports on findings; and Attends conferences and training programs; assists fellow workers. Performs other assigned duties. (Performs Related Duties as Required) Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree plus minimum of (two) 2 years of experience as an Economic Support Specialist (or equivalent classification from another CDJFS) or Associate's Degree plus minimum of two (2) years of experience determining program eligibility, providing customer service or administration or six (6) years full-time experience determining program eligibility, providing customer service or administration; OR alternative, equivalent evidence of the Minimum Class Requirements.
Driving Requirement :
