DEFINITION
The Specialist performs a variety of tasks that require basic knowledge of systems and procedures. Under the direction of the immediate CCSWOK Patient Access supervisor, the position is responsible for verifying insurance eligibility, obtaining authorizations and referral requirements when necessary. The Specialist also performs a variety of tasks that affect the ongoing and future clinical care of patients on a daily basis. In addition, t hey will check on the facility and the follow-up/reconciliation that the tests and referrals have been performed . The position works closely with the personnel of various providers to insure timely appointments for CCSWOK patients. The Specialist helps to ensure that patients flow through the scheduling and registration systems as quickly and efficiently as possible, while also ensuring all fiscal procedures are followed in a consistent manner.
