About the Role The Early Intervention Intake Specialist supports the mission of City Rescue Mission by providing help, hope, and healing to individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness. This position serves as a compassionate first impression of the organization while helping clients identify pathways toward stability, housing, and self-sufficiency. What You'll Do Welcome and assess individuals seeking services. Conduct intake interviews and determine eligibility for shelter, housing, and support programs. Help clients identify safe alternatives to homelessness through diversion and problem-solving conversations. Accurately complete client intakes and maintain documentation. Enter and update information in HMIS and other databases. Respond calmly and professionally to crisis situations. Coordinate services with shelter, housing, recovery, and case management teams. Maintain accurate records and support reporting requirements. Participate in trainings, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development. At least 2 years experience in customer service, social services, case management, intake, crisis intervention, or a related field. Strong computer skills, including data entry and database management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries. Work Environment & Schedule Full-time position; schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Work performed in a residential shelter environment with frequent client interaction and team collaboration.
