Job Description

Here, living out your faith means using your gifts to bring hope and make a lasting impact. Adoptees, birth parents, and adoptive parents deserve resources they can rely on. As a Post Adoption Specialist, you can help them find information and services to meet their needs. How Your Role Makes a Difference Conduct in-home visits and assessments on a monthly basis, this may vary if family is involved in a support group; Complete the necessary paperwork for Post Permanency units of service from SWAN and maintain the file for Bethany Christian Services; Complete applicable files on the Post Adoption System (PAS) to include case notes for all contact and interactions in a timely manner; Effectively connect the family to community resources and supports, while also attending the meetings, and lending support as a client advocate to educate the client's circle of services including parents, relative and friends, school staff, mental health professionals; Complete billing paperwork for services, regardless of funding source on a monthly basis and on time; Provide guidance and effectively communicate with adoptive families on the use of respite services, while also connecting the family to community resources and support; Maintain respite files and keep them up to date for each family; Facilitate and/or support adoptive family groups; Effectively and accurately present BCS services to mental health provider agencies, school staff, church staff and all other professionals who connect with adoptive families; Attend trainings as needed and apply newly gained knowledge in service provision; Participate in group clinical supervision; Obtain and maintain the required training hours in accordance with state licensing, COA, and agency requirements; Stay abreast of all agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements related to social services; Essential job responsibilities may vary based on the specific needs of each program/department; May be required or asked to participate in a Bethany sponsored event; Complete other duties as assigned. What Will Make You Successful Bachelor's level degree in Social Work, Human Services, or equivalent field of study; Prior work experience in adoption and foster care; Demonstrated clinical and assessment skills; Demonstrated knowledge of state, community, and agency resources; Demonstrated knowledge of trauma and child development, impact of grief and loss in adoption, and the lifelong impact of adoption across developmental stages, strongly preferred; Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, sometimes after normal business hours; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Computer and typing skills sufficient to perform essential job functions; Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; Must be 21 years old with a valid driver's license with at least 3 years driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany; Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate coverage; Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries; Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Commitment to Unity.
