About this position The Medication Financial Advocate initiates and coordinates pre-certification and prior authorization for customers with their insurance carrier, provides financial counseling to customers, and to works closely with the business office. The advocate provides guidance to those customers who may qualify for assistance through state, county, federal programs, foundational grants and replacement drug services. The advocate may be located at the North Memorial Health Cancer Center, North Memorial Health Surgery and Procedure Center or the Maple Grove Hospital Patient Care Center. Requirements Education High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. Experience • 2 years of related experience and/or training, including customer services and medical billing or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of public and private health insurance. Medical reimbursement experience preferred. Verification of insurance benefits experience preferred. Prior authorization processing experience preferred. Public and manufacture experience medication assistance program experience preferred. Coding experience preferred.
