Yes Position Summary:
The Transfer Admissions Specialist is responsible for supporting the Office of Admissions in identifying, attracting, and enrolling diverse and well-qualified students who have already earned college credits post-high school. The Transfer Admissions Specialist acts as the university's representative for all aspects of the admissions operation both on and off campus in his/her work. The Transfer Admissions Specialist reports to the Associate Director of Admissions and is a member of the Admissions team within the department of Enrollment Management.
Minimum Qualifications:
Two (2) years of professional experience in areas related to recruitment/admissions, communications, marketing/sales and/or student services (e.g. Financial Aid, Student Affairs).
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference for professional experience in higher education setting. Master's degree may substitute for one year of experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Recruitment:
Serve as primary information source and contact for prospective transfer students by providing a high level of personalized service to inquiries and applicants. Educates prospective transfer students about admission policies and procedures as well as financial aid program and scholarship opportunity information. Works closely with academic advisors in assisting applicants in determining the transferability of college credits and with degree-planning questions. Develops and implements various student recruitment and marketing programs designed to recruit targeted prospective transfer students through collaboration with both internal departments and external organizations. Serves as a representative of the university by making presentations on and off campus at a variety of functions, conferences, workshops, etc.
Application, Evaluation, and Admissions:
Ensures transfer applicants have supplied all required information to complete the application process including documentation from previously attended high schools and institutions, Coordinates with other schools as needed to collect all necessary academic materials; compiles application documents using Slate, Salesforce EnrollmentRX, Liason WebAdmit, and Banner, and reviews open files to facilitate completion. Evaluates credentials submitted by transfer student applicants, including review of application, admission essay, official transcripts, etc. to determine whether or not a student exhibits potential for success at Oklahoma City University and will add to the quality of the academic environment; thoroughly reviews applications and makes admissions decisions based on completed transfer applications. Supports specialized application processes such as transfer nursing, Duncan nursing program, transfer collegiate athletes, transfer performing arts, and transfer students with military benefits. Coordinates special admissions evaluation processes including applications that indicate a student has been disciplined or has a criminal history to work closely with Student Affairs to investigate the matter and then present the findings to the Admissions Committee for consideration. Support Undergraduate, Graduate and International Admissions and Enrollment Management standards, goals, projects, and initiatives: Maintain professional office hours during the day, and when appropriate, evenings and weekends to maximize personal communication with students, parents, and counselors. Provide support and planning for Admissions events, projects, initiatives, etc. as assigned. Participate in long range planning by serving as a part of university strategic planning bodies Participate in short range departmental planning by offering recommendations for departmental functions and goals. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the trends, regulations, and other factors that affect admissions and recruitment activities. Anticipate and investigate competitive products and services and make recommendations for distinguishing Oklahoma City University from the competitive marketplace. Participate in development of university publications, student handbooks, etc. outlining academic services and university policies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Technical fluency with Microsoft Office Suite; aptitude to learn computer software and applications Excellent written and oral communication skills; clearly express and present ideas Rapidly acquire a working knowledge of admissions procedures and operations and topics in higher education Acquire a working knowledge of customer relationships, management systems, and Banner/related student records and information management systems Establish workload priorities and meet deadlines Ability to maintain confidential information and exercise discretion Ability to cooperate, work well, and get along with supervisors, coworkers, members of the university community, and the general public Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluation situations and making decisions Ability to work independently with a high degree of accountability and accuracy.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
At the discretion of the Director, the incumbent's regular work schedule may include partial remote work. Remote work is covered by the university's current practices. Work is primarily indoors, but at times may be required to be in an outdoor environment when traveling between campus buildings or off campus. Will be exposed to frequent noise caused by telephones and office machines. Standard office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some weekend and evening work may be required. Off-campus, state and regional travel may be required.
