JOB SUMMARY

The Referral Specialist is responsible for performing all aspects of the patient referral process including coordinating and completing referrals ordered by providers; acquiring and verifying third party information for referrals; obtaining referral appointments; and tracking referrals.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education Basic College Courses Minimum Work Experience 6 months Scheduling Rep experience Required Licenses/Certifications Required Skills; Knowledge; and Abilities Knowledge of medical practice protocols related to scheduling referrals and testing. Knowledge of manual/ computerized scheduling systems. Knowledge of customer service principles and techniques. Knowledge of insurance and ability to obtain prior authorization. Skill in communicating effectively with physicians/ clinicians about referrals/radiology. Ability to multitask effectively; dealing with phone calls; in-office patients; staff and others pleasantly with calm and clear communication in all circumstances. Ability to flexibly respond to changing demand and plan; organize and prioritize accordingly. Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
