Every day, thousands of uninsured patients walk into a hospital seeking the help of medical staff to alleviate their health problems. They are treated, discharged, and then left to return home with the burden of one more medical bill. Since 1995, our Mission at Eligibility Consultants, Inc. (ECI) has been to assist self-pay hospital patients find the means to pay their medical bills through participation in various government assistant programs. ECI's solutions encompass every potential self-pay patient from the lowest dollar outpatient and ER account to the most complex long-term disability. Job Description The Eligibility Counselor - EC is responsible for bedside screening of hospital uninsured patients and the advancement of accounts of potential eligibility of federal, state and county government assistance programs, as well as hospital financial programs. Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities Meets patients by bedside to determine government program eligibility and creates collaborative teamwork to obtain needed information for application advancement Maintains a large caseload with minimum or no delinquencies Contacts patients and creates collaborative teamwork to obtain needed information for application advancement Uses clear, simple language to ensure understanding in English and/or Spanish Complies with all state and federal laws regarding HIPAA and confidentiality requirements Able to remain focused and productive each day with minimum supervision Demonstrates respect for all individuals Adheres to ECI's Mission, Vision, and Core Values Other duties as assignedRequirements:

High School diploma / GED (or higher) Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel) Ability to work up to 29 hours/week Knowledge of Medicaid and SSI programs Prior Experience with HHSC (Medicaid, County Indigent, TANF, SSI) a plus Bilingual English/Spanish a plus Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a part-time position. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 1pm. Some flexibility in hours is allowed.Physical and Work Requirements:
Long periods of walking, standing, frequent speaking, listening using a headset, sitting, use of hands/fingers across keyboard or mouse, extensive periods working at a computer. Able to work from hospital site M-F 8 am - 4:30 pm. Must be willing and able to take required vaccinations (no Covid vaccine). Employment Practices ECI is an equal opportunity employer.
