The Credentialing Specialist will review applications, verify both individual and facility accreditation and maintain records of verification. Who Are We? Summary The credentialing specialist maintains databases in which they would input new information or update existing information regarding licenses, education, continuing education and relevant job experience. Ensure that all licenses and credentials are verified and updated for location they work. Duties and responsibilities To be a Credentialing Specialist, one should be a detail-oriented, organized decision-maker with the ability to work both independently and in teams. Using strong research skills to gather pertinent information regarding facilities and staff Keeping updated on licensing and certification requirements Audit applications and licensing documentation for accuracy Recognize credentialing guidelines of various insurance payors Requirements 1-2 years of continuous credentialing experience Understanding current credentialing healthcare laws and regulations Possess knowledge of basic computer programs, such as Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as credentialing database programs
