Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Early Childhood and Family Services, the Family Services Enrollment Specialist uses the principles of the Office of Head Start's Parent Family Community Engagement Framework and manages eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment, and attendance (ERSEA) oversight, to ensure that all ERSEA systems follow Head Start Performance Standards.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Ensures full enrollment is achieved and maintained, making sure all enrolled children and their families are provided with a complete range of services, according to their needs. 2. Provides training and technical assistance to Head Start staff, Board, and Policy Council in the ERSEA Head Start Performance Standards. 3. Assists Site Administrators in developing Recruitment Plans for their centers. 4. Trains and supports family service staff in assisting families to set individualized evidence-based family goals as outlined in the Parent Family Community Engagement Framework and ensure these goals are being monitored. 5. Develops community partnerships and acts as a liaison between community agencies and Head Start families and staff. 6. Oversees the Parent Committees and coordinates with Site Administrators to develop and implement requirements of the Parent Family and Community Engagement Framework. 7. Works in collaboration with the leadership team to develop, implement and refine Head Start Program family service approach to promote family outcomes that support children's school readiness and well-being. Knowledge, skills & abilities:
Must:
Demonstrate a good written and verbal communication skills. Capable of exercising good judgment in dealing with peers, children and adults. Demonstrate the capacity to problem solve, handle crises, and work with families and children of various cultures from lowincome backgrounds. Work with families in an empathic, nonjudgmental, respectful, and professional manner. Be willing to abide by the Head Start Code of Conduct about respect, confidentiality, methods of child guidance. Prior to employment, the applicant must sign authorizations for NRCA to perform DMV and Criminal Record Checks. These will be used to demonstrate that a satisfactory driving record and no pending or found charges or convictions related to abuse, neglect, or exploitation of children or adults are present. Pre-employment drug testing, TB test and employment physical are also required. Driving is an essential function of the job. Must possess valid driver's license and safe driving record. Must be able to drive up to 4 hours per day but may be required to drive more than 4 hours in a given day. Some night/overnight driving may be required for night or out of town trainings or meetings. If agency vehicle is unavailable, must have vehicle with valid inspection and insurance meeting minimum state requirements available for transporting individuals and families within the New River Valley, and in pre-approved cases outside the New River Valley. Mileage reimbursed by NRCA.
Education requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field plus three years' experience.
