The Verification Services Specialist I reports to the Verification Services Manager. Job Duties & Responsibilities Maintains compliance with FCRA requirements, employment and reference verification regulations, consumer information disclosure guidelines, and organizational policies and standards while performing verification and background screening activities. Maintains and utilizes internal and external database applications to support verification processes. Manages assigned report workflows and prioritizes activities to meet service level expectations. Conducts employment, education, credential, and professional reference verifications through outbound and inbound communication with verification sources via phone, fax, email, and other available technologies. Reviews internal databases, report notes, and prior verification attempts to determine report status and appropriate next steps. Documents research activities, verification results, and actions taken in a clear and detailed manner. Communicates with clients and verification sources to ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality report completion. Reviews completed reports for accuracy, completeness, and grammatical correctness before closing. Meets established productivity, turnaround time, and quality performance standards. Applies PBSA accreditation standards and industry best practices to all job responsibilities. Delivers exceptional customer service while maintaining quality and compliance standards. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficient in data entry with a typing speed of 50+ WPM and working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with applicants, clients, and verification sources by phone and in person. Ability to manage multiple priorities, organize workflow, work independently, and complete routine administrative tasks accurately and efficiently. Ability to maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive applicant information in accordance with company policies and procedures. Strong customer service skills with the ability to build positive working relationships and deliver high-quality customer experience. Ability to frequently use a computer, keyboard, and telephone and work additional hours, including overtime, as business needs require. Travel No travel is regularly expected for this position. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no direct report management responsibilities. High School Diploma and 1-4 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a customer service focused setting such as a professional services firm, employment screening or staffing agency preferred. Customer service and data entry experience preferred.
