Salary increase of 1.25 percent , pending Board approval on June 9, 2026
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate for the Executive Assistant to the Superintendent is a service-oriented, highly organized, professional individual who demonstrates exceptional judgment, work ethic, and communication skills. This individual plays a critical role in supporting the efficient operation of the Superintendent's Office and the overall student-centered mission of Lompoc Unified School District (LUSD). This individual serves as a trusted partner to the Superintendent, and understands the context of LUSD and the community it serves. They demonstrate an understanding of excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with district leadership, staff, board members, families, and community partners. The successful candidate possesses strong executive-level administrative experience, preferably within education or public sector environments. They share in the District's commitment to equity, and have the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused, with the ability to anticipate needs, manage complex schedules, coordinate high-level meetings and communications, and handle sensitive information with integrity and sound judgment. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in various technology tools, organization systems, and office management practices. This individual is adaptable, collaborative, and committed to supporting student success through effective leadership support and exceptional customer service. They embody professionalism, integrity, and a deep commitment to the values and goals of LUSD and public education. The established Eligibility List will remain in effect for one year. The District has the right to limit the number of eligibles which can be reasonably used during the existence of the eligibility list. Education and Experience :
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by college-level course work in secretarial science or related field and five years of increasingly responsible secretarial or administrative assistant experience, with preference given to applicants who have related experience working in a public school setting.

Knowledge of:
Functions and secretarial operations of an administrative office. Organizational operations, policies and objectives. Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures. Modern office practices, procedures and equipment. Record-keeping techniques. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. Oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Budgeting practices regarding monitoring. Methods of collecting and organizing data and information. Business letter and report writing, editing and proofreading. Basic public relations techniques. Operation of a computer and assigned software.
Ability to:
Perform highly responsible and confidential secretarial and administrative assistant duties to relieve the Deputy Superintendent of a variety of administrative details. Interpret, apply and explain laws, codes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Plan, coordinate and organize office activities and flow of communications and information for the assigned administrator. Organize complex material and summarize discussions and actions taken in report form. Compile and prepare comprehensive reports concerning a broad spectrum of subject matter. Compose effective correspondence independently. Maintain a variety of complex and confidential files and records. Ensure efficient and timely completion of office and program projects and activities. Understand and resolve issues, complaints or problems. Type and input data at an acceptable rate of speed. Operate a variety of office equipment including a computer and assigned software. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action. Plan and organize work. Meet schedules and timelines. Prioritize and schedule work. Work independently with little direction. Work confidentially with discretion. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
