Job Description

STEP is the training fund for the DMV's food service worker union, UNITE HERE Local 23, and its partner employers. We contribute to the growth of sustainable work lives in the food service industry by providing free, high quality training, and educational benefits to support union workers, their families, and their communities. The majority of STEP's participants are people of color or immigrant workers, and we are passionate about helping them grow and thrive. STEP is a small but fast-moving organization that is still growing and changing.

Requirements:
Occasional travel, some evening and weekend work Strong Spanish (written and spoken) Very strong English writing and conversation B.A. or higher Ability to learn and master various databases and technologies (CRMs, registration database, Canva, VOIPs etc) Experience in not-for-profit and/or small team office environments Very organized and efficient Excellent time management skills and ability to keep focused on priorities Ability to work independently and finish projects Beneficial to have: Some work experience in the hospitality industry Interest in and/or experience in adult education and training (ESL, digital literacy) Familiarity with and/or connection to the labor movement and/or workforce development Responsibilities will include: Connect with potential and current participants, answering questions about classes, helping members register, and referring them to other organizations for assistance Answer calls, texts, and emails from participants Support the Executive Director with scheduling and event logistics Learn and take responsibility for our databases and data processes related to registration and participant support Accept and monitor invoices from contract instructors and service providers Support grant monitoring and reporting requirements Carry out administrative duties such as filing, word processing, copying, binding and scanning to support the Executive Director and instructors. Use and update our Canva templates for certificates, text blasts and flyers Maintain up-to-date employee records and personnel files Practical research and logistics (such as locating training spaces, contract instructors, equipment repairs) Support SOP creation and modification This is a confidential position.
