Executive / Administrative Assistant — Dustin Kern CPA PC Part-Time | Remote | North Carolina preferred About the Role Dustin Kern, CPA, PC is a small, client-focused tax and accounting firm based in North Carolina. We're looking for a sharp, highly organized Executive Assistant to support the firm owner with inbox management, weekly planning, client follow-ups, and more. This is not a receptionist role. We need someone who can think ahead, work independently, and manage details with the kind of precision that a professional services environment demands. If you've supported a busy executive, attorney, financial advisor, or accountant — and you thrive in a role where confidentiality and attention to detail are non-negotiable — this may be a great fit. What You'll Own Triage and manage the owner's Outlook inbox daily — flag urgent items, draft replies on routine correspondence, and make sure nothing gets buried Prepare a weekly briefing each
Monday:
key deadlines, open client items, and calendar priorities Track open client follow-ups and flag anything that's overdue or approaching a deadline Coordinate scheduling and calendar management Support light administrative tasks as the role grows What We're Looking For Proven experience supporting a senior executive, business owner, or professional in a fast-paced environment Excellent written communication — you'll be drafting emails on behalf of a CPA, so clarity and professionalism matter Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft 365 Comfort with confidential information and a genuine respect for client privacy Self-starter who can operate with minimal supervision once onboarded Experience with practice management tools, project management software, or CRM platforms is a plus Familiarity with accounting or professional services firms is a plus — but not required What We're Not Looking For Someone who needs constant direction or check-ins to complete tasks A generalist VA who handles 10 clients at once with divided attention Front desk or receptionist experience as a primary background
