Job Description

A growing startup is looking for a sharp, highly motivated administrative assistant to support an executive who is building and scaling the company. We're growing fast and the founder needs someone who can take things off their plate — both the personal logistics that eat up a day and the substantive research projects that don't get done because there aren't enough hours. This is not a coffee-runs-and-calendar-only role. You'll see how a company actually gets built — fundraising conversations, hiring decisions, operational tradeoffs, customer issues, the whole picture. Discretion is essential.
Position responsibilities include:
Calendar management, travel coordination, and inbox triage Personal errands and life-admin support for the executive Independent research projects on markets, competitors, vendors, hiring, and other topics as they come up Building and maintaining spreadsheets to organize, analyze, and present research findings Writing clear, well-organized briefing reports and summaries Drafting communications, meeting notes, and follow-ups Light project management — making sure things the founder cares about actually get done The position is part-time with flexible hours. The work will be varied, fast-paced, and rewarding. Some days will be heavily administrative; others will be deep research. You should be comfortable switching gears.
The ideal candidate is:
Strong with numbers and highly proficient in spreadsheets — this is a critical skill. Most research projects will involve gathering data, building models or comparison tables, running calculations, and presenting findings clearly. Comfort with formulas, pivot tables, and basic financial math is essential. Highly proficient with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.) and uses them fluently to research, draft, summarize, and accelerate their own work — this is a hard requirement, not a nice-to-have An excellent writer who can turn a messy pile of information into a clean two-page brief Organized, proactive, and able to anticipate what's needed before being asked Discreet and trustworthy with sensitive business and personal information Resourceful — when you don't know something, you figure it out Strong academic background preferred. We care more about judgment and capability than a specific résumé line. Working directly with the founder — a seasoned entrepreneur who has built companies from a napkin to millions in revenue, had multiple exits, raised many rounds from professional investors, and advised many other startups — will give you a front-row seat to how a company actually operates. This is unusually high exposure for an assistant role.
