Job Description

The Department of Strategic and Government Affairs is seeking a full-time Executive Assistant to the City Council Liaison . The Executive Assistant will provide highly detailed technical and administrative support to the Mayor and City Council under the direction of the Council Liaison in a fast-paced environment. Assists with the development and implementation of City programs, policies, and procedures by providing comprehensive administrative support. Researches and responds to inquiries, providing accurate information to support the resolution of issues as they arise. Proactively manages the daily operations of the City Council office while balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.. We pay our Executive Assistant's a starting salary of $66,019 - $75,920 depending on your qualifications and experience.

As the Executive Assistant to the City Council Liaison, you will: Processes and completes detailed forms, correspondence and reports as directed by the City Council Liaison. Identifies opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and service delivery. Builds and maintains professional stakeholder relationships through a consistently positive and professional demeanor, ensuring effective collaboration and result. Maintains calendar for Mayor and Council members, schedules meetings and ensures City Clerk's Office receives required information for quorum notice postings, as necessary. Organizes, manages and reviews City Council inquiries and requests; prepares status reports and related documentation. Organizes and prioritizes work to ensure deadlines and schedules are met; manages one-on-one agendas for quarterly meetings. Serves as a liaison for communications between City Council and staff as needed. Assists with responding to citizen concerns and service requests in a timely manner; prepares written correspondence as needed. Regular attendance on-site is required. Stays abreast of, and complies with, all City and departmental policies and procedures. Performs any other duties and responsibilities as directed by the Director or Supervisor Required to work as an essential employee before, during and after an emergency or disaster, whether natural or acts of war.
Formal Education:
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university required.
Relatable Work Experience:
Four years secretarial/administrative experience required. Municipal experience is preferred. Two (2) years of relevant work experience demonstrating acceptable proficiency in the required knowledge and skills may be substituted in lieu of specific educational requirements. Training (License and/or Certification): Valid Texas Drivers License The citizens of Sugar Land depend on City employees before, during and after an emergency or disaster to provide or restore essential public services for the health, safety and quality of life for our community.
