Job Description

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented File Clerk to support a non-profit organization in New Orleans, Louisiana. This short-term contract position with the potential for long-term employment is ideal for someone who enjoys keeping records organized, assisting with administrative tasks, and providing responsive communication throughout the workday. The role follows a Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. schedule and begins as a short-term assignment with the possibility of continued long-term employment based on business needs and performance.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain organized physical and digital filing systems to ensure records are easy to locate, update, and retrieve.
  • Enter and verify information accurately in internal databases, spreadsheets, and document logs.
  • Respond professionally to incoming phone calls and emails while directing inquiries to the appropriate team members.
  • Support general office operations by preparing documents, tracking correspondence, and assisting with routine clerical tasks.
  • Coordinate appointment scheduling and help manage calendars or meeting arrangements as needed.
  • Handle outbound follow-up calls or messages to gather missing information and confirm details with clients or partners.
  • Assist with order-related data processing and administrative record updates in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Provide support with document review and filing activities related to housing or compliance programs when applicable. Requirements
  • Previous experience in filing, clerical support, administrative assistance, or a similar office-based role.
  • Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally by phone and email.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Comfortable managing multiple tasks, deadlines, and routine follow-up in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer service skills with the ability to interact respectfully with a wide range of individuals.
  • Familiarity with Low Income Tax Credit Housing (LIHTC) and Fair Housing guidelines is preferred.
  • Availability to work onsite in New Orleans, Louisiana, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.
