Essential Functions
- Researches KASES, CourtNet, Worker Portal and other resources to determine and verify that legal action is necessary and files the appropriate action to establish a child support case (may be on behalf of the Cabinet) based on the research to include gathering required documentation and completing the appropriate forms for attorney review.
- Interviews customers and determines appropriate action depending on case types such as Paternity, Non-support, Circuit and/or Intergovernmental.
- Updates and maintains case information in the child support system at a high level of accuracy.
- Evaluates information provided to other agencies and/or statements from walk in customers about the identity and location of absent parents and initiates inquiries to other persons or agencies to verify statements.
- Ensures quality customer service for walk in customers by explaining services offered and next steps in the action.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
KNOWLEDGE
Some knowledge of child support services and public assistance programs required. Computer experience preferred.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
Must be a mature individual with the ability to work with the public in a professional manner, respect, patience, and understanding. Possess strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to retain detailed information is needed. Exhibit the ability to follow direction from others and follow through with appropriate information or action when requested.
EDUCATION
High school graduate or its equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
Stable work history in administrative work, clerical office work and/or work dealing with the public may be substituted for knowledge requirements.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS AND/OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position is located in the Jefferson County Attorney's Office, Child Support Division, 1930 Bishop Lane, Suite 100, Louisville, Ky. 40218. Work is performed in an office setting. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Daily use of computers. Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor and personal interaction with employees in department.
Salary:
$37,440.00 per year/ $18.00 per hour (Funding is in whole or in part from federal, DCSS, or other state funds).
