Job Title:
Field Investigator/Interviewer (Bilingual Spanish Preferred - SF-85P Public Trust) Background Field Investigator (SF-85P Public Trust Required)
Role Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, perceptive Field Investigator to conduct comprehensive, in-person background and social history reports. This role requires traveling directly to individuals' residences to conduct structured interviews, evaluate living environments, and compile objective, detailed reports. The ideal candidate possesses a unique blend of investigative instincts and the empathy required for social work, case management, or field research. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly preferred to seamlessly bridge language barriers in the field. As this position handles highly sensitive data, the selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a Public Trust background investigation by filling out Standard Form 85P (SF-85P).
Compensation:
This is a contract position with compensation paid per case completed. Rates vary depending on the scope, location, and complexity of each assignment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct field visits to residences to interview subjects, family members, neighbors, and character references.
- Utilize advanced, respectful questioning techniques to gather accurate biographical, social, and background data.
- Assess and document environmental, household, and situational factors objectively.
- Translate and transcribe key interview details accurately when conducting interviews in Spanish.
- Write clear, comprehensive, and legally defensible field reports based entirely on verified facts.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience in private investigation, process serving, field research, or a related field.
- A background in Social Work, Case Management, Sociology, or Human Services is strongly preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish): Ability to speak, read, and conduct interviews fluently in Spanish is a major asset.
- Exceptional written communication skills with a sharp eye for detail.
- Must have a reliable vehicle, a valid driver's license, and be completely comfortable working independently in the field.
Background Vetting:
Must be able to successfully complete and clear a Public Trust background investigation, including the completion of Form SF-85P (Questionnaire for Public Trust Positions).
