Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Legal Secretary to support a busy law firm in Troy, Michigan. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment and can manage document preparation, court filings, and administrative coordination with a high degree of accuracy. The role requires strong knowledge of litigation support practices, sound judgment when handling confidential information, and the ability to keep multiple priorities organized.
Responsibilities:
  • Draft, format, and finalize legal materials such as pleadings, notices, summonses, and related court documents with close attention to detail.
  • Prepare routine written communications and ensure correspondence is completed accurately and distributed in a timely manner.
  • Submit filings to state and federal courts while following applicable rules, deadlines, and procedural requirements.
  • Track service activity and maintain organized records to support timely follow-up with process servers and other external parties.
  • Review legal paperwork for grammar, formatting, consistency, and completeness before submission or distribution.
  • Coordinate administrative support activities including copying, mail handling, file maintenance, and document organization.
  • Use legal terminology appropriately in daily work while supporting litigation-related tasks and court proceeding preparation.
  • Manage competing deadlines, calendars, and workflow priorities while maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive client and case information.
