Electronic (Using your CalCareer Account) By Mail Drop-off Job Description and Duties Under general supervision of the Supervisor I in the Dispute Resolution Services Unit (DRSU); the Associate Director in the Office of Dispute Resolution (ODR); and the Director of the Special Education Division (SED), , the Office Technician (OT) will be responsible for tracking communication documentation related to special education compliance complaint matters and provide general administrative support including phones, mail, copying, scanning, and filing, time and attendance reporting, data base entry, and shared file documentation and entry. The ODR Units provide special education information and technical assistance to California's special education children and their families, handling public contacts by telephone, email, and written correspondence. With approximately 1,500 compliance complaints per year, the OT works daily and reliably as a team member of the DRSU and with other staff of the ODR Units and Division. This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office two days weekly, at minimum.
Duties include:
Reviewing documents for format, grammar, and spelling consistent with Department and Unit policy Emailing or mailing reports and correspondence Receiving, reviewing, and distributing documents while independently determining the disposition of documents utilizing judgment or knowledge of Unit and Division functions Entering data Developing, revising, and maintaining electronic filing systems Operating office equipment such as fax, copier, and scanner Answering telephone inquiries, responding to information requests, directing calls to other appropriate staff as needed Personal Leave Program 2025 Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025. This position is subject to PLP 2025 and will have a monthly base pay reduction of 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027.
