Job Description

This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week, position under general supervision. Performs a variety of clerical and administrative support duties as well as minor appraisal functions. Answers department telephone calls, receives, and greets visitors to the department. Provide customer service to the public in a professional courteous manner. Provide assessment information and answer questions from taxpayers, realtors, and appraisers. Orders office supplies as needed. Processes all credit and exemption applications. Files, indexes, sorts, and maintains office records, documents, and data. Assist in processing real estate transfers, survey plats, parcel combinations and splits. Complete parcel reconciliations. Assist in payroll and accounts payable functions as needed. Verify reports and records for accuracy. Assist in the property appraisal process. Assist other employees or perform other related tasks assigned. Attend schools, conferences, and meetings as required. Graduation from high school or equivalent combination of training and experience that will provide required knowledge, skills and abilities. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Accuracy in spelling, punctuation, and grammar. Proficient computer skills and knowledge. Ability to develop and use empathetic listening skills, communicate with clarity and maintain an attitude that conveys respect, assistance, honesty and resourcefulness. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees and the public. Knowledge of maps, legal descriptions, and real estate terminology. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Skilled at completing accurate arithmetic calculations. Ability to quickly learn clerical tasks and use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and/or technology and adhere to office policies. Physical Requirements This position requires lifting (up to 20 lbs.), stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, and repetitive motion. This position is a light work position with the person sitting most of the time. Cognitive Demands This position is part of a team and should be self-motivated, able to efficiently plan their own work and train/coordinate the work of others. Working under pressure, under deadlines and working on several tasks at the same time is required. Special Requirements Must pass a criminal background check.
