Job Description

Job Overview The purpose of this position is to provide assistance to the legal secretarial staff and attorneys. Perform a wide range of Court-related tasks and technical secretarial assignments in direct support of the Juvenile Office operation. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Secretarial/Support Services Supervisor and is reviewed through conferences, observations and the results obtained from work efforts. Duties Responsible for performing tasks such as typing and mailing of letters, copying, scanning, e-filing and faxing specific information from the Juvenile Office files, assist with preparing a wide range of documents associated with the operation of the Juvenile Office such as petitions, motions, and subpoenas.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Specific tasks require specific knowledge, skills and abilities. To successfully perform the tasks assigned to this position, the following will be required: 1. Knowledge or ability to learn court procedures, legal documents, laws and legal factors pertaining to the Juvenile Court. 2. Knowledge or ability to learn the Juvenile Office programs, rules and regulations. 3. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Knowledge of entering in JIS system preferred. 4. Knowledge of manual and automated office equipment with knowledge of computer applications. 5. Knowledge of composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation; skill in typing accurately. 6. Ability to effectively comply with written instructions and procedures. 7. Ability to organize and coordinate work-related activities in an effective and efficient manner. 8. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. 9. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, judges, attorneys, court officials and the public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
An individual applying for this position should have a combination of education and practical work experience.
The minimum qualifications are:
High school graduation or its equivalent Two (2) years of professional clerical experience and one (1) year minimum of legal experience preferred. Requires licensure as a notary public.
