This is a unique opportunity to work with the independent tribunal charged with resolving claims of lawyer misconduct, as well as facilitate other important functions of the North Carolina State Bar. In this role, you will primarily be responsible for overseeing the function of the Disciplinary Hearing Commission (DHC), including the procedures required for cases filed before the DHC. The Clerk serves a critical role in the disciplinary process by filing and maintaining all disciplinary cases filed with the DHC, communicating with the relevant parties and hearing panels, and scheduling and facilitating disciplinary hearings. The Clerk will also assist with administrative tasks and help during State Bar events.
What We're Looking For:
An individual who has experience working in the legal profession, including significant familiarity with civil litigation, the Rules of Civil Procedure, and the court system. Excellent organizational, writing, and communication skills, including drafting orders and correspondence. An individual who is meticulous, proactive, and can work independently. Tech-savvy and comfortable with platforms like Adobe, Zoom, and Microsoft OAice; experience or comfort working with North Carolina's Enterprise Justice (Odyssey) e filing system and other new databases is preferred.
