Legal Assistant Position:
Legal Secretary / Legal Assistant (Family Law & Litigation)

Brodheadsville, Pennsylvania (Monroe County)
Firm:
Merwine, Hanyon & Kaspszyk, PLLC (MHK Attorneys) About Us We are a busy, established law firm in Brodheadsville handling family law, civil litigation, real estate, estates, and related matters. We are seeking an experienced legal secretary / legal assistant to support our family law and litigation practice. This is an in-office position with direct, daily interaction with attorneys, clients, and courts. Key Responsibilities Prepare, format, and revise legal documents, including: Complaints, petitions, motions, PFAs, stipulations, agreements Discovery requests/responses, correspondence, and standard forms Manage calendars, deadlines, and court dates for multiple attorneys. Handle e-filing and paper filing in Pennsylvania state courts (family and civil), with emphasis on Monroe County and surrounding counties. Answer phones, screen calls, schedule appointments, and interact professionally with clients and court personnel. Maintain physical and electronic files, including scanning, organizing, and indexing documents. Assist with billing/time entries and basic office administrative tasks as needed. Minimum Qualifications At least 2 years' experience in a law office as a legal secretary, legal assistant, or paralegal. Prior experience in family law and/or litigation strongly preferred. Familiarity with Pennsylvania state court practice and filing procedures (e-filing experience preferred). Must reside within 40 minutes of MHK Attorneys Brodheadsville office.
Strong skills in:
Microsoft Word Outlook / email and calendar management PDF software (e.g., Adobe, PDF editing/combining) Accurate typing/dictation and strong attention to detail. Skills & Attributes Reliable, organized, and able to juggle multiple attorneys and deadlines. Professional communication skills—both with clients in sensitive matters and with court staff. Comfortable working in a fast-paced small-firm environment where you are a critical part of the team. Regular in-office presence in Brodheadsville, PA. Compensation Competitive hourly rate or salary commensurate with experience . Potential for merit-based increases over time.
