Job Description

  • The Starting Rate for this position is $23.22 per hour
  • 35 hours per week
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is the Office Support for the Civil Division. The primary responsibility is to receive and process incoming License to Carry applications for the Sheriff's Office.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not necessarily limited to:
  • Receive and process all incoming License to Carry Applications.
  • Handling appointment scheduling and issuing concealed carry licenses to applicants who are approved.
  • Assisting the public with the scheduling of appointments for pick-up of their concealed carry permits.
  • Issuing refunds when necessary and preparing all documentation for denial or withdrawal of applications.
  • Processing revocation requests for concealed carry permits and preparation of all documentation in support of such requests.
  • Assist the public, both in person at the counter and on the phone, with questions pertaining to the office and its duties.
  • Other tasks as needed within the civil division to support and ensure efficient operations of the Office.
  • Assist with processing documents for Central Booking as needed.
  • Daily filing.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. certification from a recognized issuing agency.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Experience in the civil and/or criminal judicial system preferred.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Basic elements of English language usage, spelling, and arithmetic.
  • Ability to perform routine clerical work.
  • Ability to utilize computer and basic office equipment.
  • Knowledge of office methods, practices and procedures and ability to make arithmetical calculations.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties, to include all other employees.
  • Knowledge of the law as it pertains to County government.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to handle stress.
  • Physical presence in the office is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The position may require sitting or standing for extended periods of time. The majority of time is spent in a sedentary position. Work involves talking, hearing, using hands to handle, and feeling objects, tools, or controls. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty (20) pounds a distance of fifteen (15) feet or less.
