Health insurance Paid time off 401(k) Vision insurance Dental insurance Rankin, Shuey, Mintz, Lampasona & Harper www.rankinlaw.com Oakland, CA • On-site, Remote, Hybrid $65K - $85K/yr Full-time Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Retirement, PTO Job description Overview Rankin, Shuey, Mintz, Lampasona & Harper is an insurance defense firm formed in 1946 with an opening for a Legal Secretary in its Oakland office. Candidates are preferred to have at least a year experience as a legal secretary in a law firm. The position can be for an on-site, remote, or hybrid full-time position depending on the candidate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide administrative, secretarial, and clerical support to assigned attorneys/paralegals. Format briefs, pleadings, and correspondence, producing Table of Contents, Table of Authorities, and other legal documents. Prepare shells for attorneys in the preparation for all motions, discovery, and trial documents. File legal documents with state and federal courts (e-filing knowledge is a must). Regularly and accurately proofread all documents to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to distribution or filing. Update and maintain client files in a timely manner. Maintain attorney calendars through calendaring system (Abacus and Outlook). Prioritize and execute attorney assigned tasks quickly and accurately, while being organized and detail-oriented. Prepare for trial as needed by assisting paralegals and attorneys.
Qualifications:
High School diploma. Candidates should be familiar with the State and Federal Rules and Administrative Procedures, as well as experience reviewing and following County local rules. Successful candidates should have experience and knowledge with e-filing in state and federal court, case management, docketing, calendaring, e-discovery, document review, exhibit preparation, attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe or Power PDF, and internet browsers. Candidates must have excellent analytical and written communication skills. The yearly salary range is between $65,000-$85,000. This position is open to all experience levels. The actual salary offered may be above the identified range and will be based on a wide range of factors, including relevant skills, training, and experience.
