Job Description

We are a prominent Hudson Valley based law firm seeking a full-time Legal Secretary to join our team. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented legal professional who is organized, client-focused, and able to manage sensitive matters independently in a fast-paced law firm environment. The schedule for this position is hybrid, with a mix of in-office and remote workdays. Duties include, but are not limited to: Support attorneys with wrongful death compromise matters from Surrogate's Court filing through final distribution Review and organize case files, including accident reports, medical records, creditor information, and related court matters Prepare and assemble exhibits for court submissions Draft legal documents, including petitions, accounts, waivers, attorney affirmations, citations, decrees, and related materials Coordinate structured settlements with brokers, as needed Communicate with families to facilitate document execution and assist with service of citations File legal documents electronically with the court (e-filing) Assist with settlement calculations, including allocation of proceeds to next of kin
Qualifications and Skills:
Applicants ust be professional and client service-oriented. They will be able to accomplish tasks within time constraints and possess excellent computer skills. Additionally, applications should be organized, attentive to detail, and have strong time management skills. The ability to multi-task and work independently is essential. A Bachelor's Degree and/or a Paralegal certificate is required; 3 to 5 years of prior Wills, Real Estate, law firm, etc. experience is also required. Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus.
