Job Description
Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will assist a Sr. Trial Lawyer with court and trial preparation. Duties Assist Attorney on a day to day tasks relating to litigation Assist Attorney on trial preparation, this involves organizing exhibits, preparing trial notebooks, and gathering evidence for attorneys case. Assist Attorney in preparing for depositions, hearings, trials and conferences Transcribing and proofreading of legal documents Maintain and organizing electronic case files and update case management system with status information Prepare court papers such as motions, subpoenas and other legal documents for court filing Timely file court documents with various court administration, including E-filing. Scheduling of hearings, pre-depositions, depositions, mediations, conferences Maintain Attorney's calendar to track meeting, hearings, depositions, court dates and other due dates. Compiling and organizing documents, preparing binders and/or folders Responsible for scheduling and calendaring Communicate effectively with opposing counsel, clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in legal matters. Enter Attorney's time according to Firm billing practices in our case management system. Experience Previous experience as a Trial Legal Secretary or in a similar role within a law office is preferred. Proficiency in legal research tools such as Lexis-Nexis Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under tight deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for client interaction and documentation preparation. A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong attention to detail is required.
