Job Description

With over 240 attorneys and eight office locations in Louisiana and Texas, Kean Miller serves as legal counsel to the people and industries that drive the energy-belt economy. From our offices in The Woodlands, Houston, Lake Charles, Lafayette, downtown Baton Rouge, Bluebonnet-Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Shreveport, Fortune 500 companies, national businesses, and local companies rely on Kean Miller for efficient legal services and practical advice, always provided in a cost-efficient manner. Kean Miller is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join our Probate Litigation team in The Woodlands. This is a 100% in-office position. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of state and federal court rules and filing procedures; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; possess excellent organizational, time management, word processing, proofreading, and strong multi-tasking skills. Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Draft and editing court filings E-File experience Maintain calendars Open new files and matters Run conflict checks Organize and maintain physical and electronic files Input time into billing software Transcribe dictation Handling client communication, attorney calendars, meeting coordination and assistance with billing Requirements Excellent grammar and writing abilities Familiar with Texas probate filing procedures Experience with a document management system Keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills High proficiency in MS Office Suite and document management system Must be able to multi-task and successfully manage a variety of demands daily Strong understanding of estate planning documents Minimum of 5 years' legal secretary experience Recent legal secretary experience in Probate Able to manage multiple attorneys and completing priorities What Kean Miller Offers We offer a people-first culture, meaningful work, competitive salaries, and an extensive benefits package that includes health, life, disability, dental, vision coverage and 401(k).
