SLLDA is an independent non-profit legal organization funded by Salt Lake County and other municipalities for the purpose of protecting the constitutional rights of individuals who are accused of crimes.
Position Overview:
A File Processor at Salt Lake Legal Defender Association receives court cases and data electronically and enters criminal case information into our database as the first step in the file creation process. The file processor interacts with attorneys and legal assistants and provides assistance as a back-up receptionist to greet visitors and answer phones. This position requires excellent technology skills, attention to detail, initiative, collaboration, dependability, good communication, and the ability to solve problems. Successful file processors are reliable, accurate, and enthusiastic about our mission. Duties include, but are not limited to: Opening Cases Downloading and uploading case discovery, uploading physical discovery when provided Answering telephones and assisting visitors, determining reason for the visit or call and routing accordingly Interacting professionally with individuals experiencing difficult times or challenges
Skills and Abilities:
Manage time and priorities to meet strict goals in order to best serve our clients Handle pressure and deadlines in an effective, professional and courteous manner Exercise discretion and confidentiality Effectively interact with individuals from various socio-economic backgrounds
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent Minimum of 2 years experience in reception, general office support, or clerical duties within a professional office setting Basic knowledge of the Criminal Justice system Experience with case management software preferred Preference for candidates who are bilingual (preferably English and Spanish) The successful candidate will be required to complete a criminal background screen. $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
