Position Summary:
The Medical Payment Poster will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate posting of payments received from insurance companies and patients. The position requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Position requires accuracy, thoroughness, and a good understanding of insurance procedures for referrals, co-pays, deductibles, allowable, CPT codes and Dx codes.
Responsibilities:
Accurately post payments received from insurance companies and patients into the billing system Review payment information to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies Work with insurance companies to resolve payment issues and discrepancies Update patient accounts with payment information and communicate with patients regarding outstanding balances Research and resolve any payment posting errors or discrepancies Assist with other billing tasks as needed Maintain confidentiality of patient and practice information at all times
Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; Associates or Bachelor's degree in healthcare, business or related field preferred Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in medical payment posting or medical billing Experience with billing and payment posting software, specifically NextGen preferred Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 coding, and insurance billing processes Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and resolve issues effectively

Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. In office environment with controlled atmosphere. Possible exposure to staff or patients with communicable diseases and blood borne pathogens.
