Job Description

Fremont Surgery Center has been providing high quality care to patients in the Bay Area since 1996. Our facility is accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities (AAAASF) and certified by Medicare. We are one of the largest and busiest ambulatory surgery centers in Northern California. At this time, we are looking to expand our administrative team with the addition of a Collections Specialist. Contacts patients and insurance companies to collect outstanding balances Runs reports on outstanding A/R on a daily and weekly basis Prepares, reviews, and transmits claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing Checks accuracy of payments from insurance company and calling insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments if necessary Calls insurance companies to determine status on all accounts more than 30 days old, or as determined by state prompt-payment regulations Send any necessary copies or supporting documentation required by insurance companies Submits claim to patient's secondary insurance (including primary carrier's EOB) after receiving correct payment from primary carrier Researches and appeals denied bills Responds to all patient or insurance inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts. • Notes contact with insurance companies Checks with patient biller to determine whether any special payment arrangements exist Make a minimum of 25 successful collections calls per day Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications for this position are as follows: • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (outlook, word, excel, etc.) One (1) year experience in collections preferred One (1) year experience in a healthcare environment preferred Degree from an accredited college or university preferred
