This role can be either part-time or full-time with a somewhat flexible schedule for the right candidate. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the billing process for medical services, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims to insurance companies and following-up on any billing issues . The ideal candidate possesses strong knowledge of medical coding standards, and thrives in a fast-paced environment dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care. Compensation commensurate with experience. Ophthalmology experience preferred, but not required. Duties Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, adhering to industry standards such as CPT coding, ICD-9, and ICD-10. Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper coding for diagnoses, procedures, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications. Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims through effective medical collection strategies, resolving discrepancies promptly. Verify insurance coverage, patient eligibility, and benefits prior to billing to minimize denials. Maintain detailed records of billing activities, claim submissions, adjustments, and payments in compliance with healthcare regulations. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or coding issues that impact billing accuracy. Stay current with updates in medical coding guidelines and insurance policies to ensure compliance and maximize reimbursements. Skills Extensive knowledge of medical coding including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG classifications, and ICD coding standards. Proficiency with EMR and EHR systems for efficient claim processing and record management. Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare billing procedures. Experience with medical collection processes to recover outstanding balances effectively. Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy in coding, documentation, and claim submissions. Ability to navigate insurance policies and communicate effectively with insurance companies for claim resolution. Familiarity with healthcare regulations related to billing practices to maintain compliance at all times.
Pay:
$21.00 - $30.00 per hour
