2-3 years medical billing/coding required
Preferred Setting:
Internal Medicine or Family Practice Position Overview Responsible for end-to-end medical billing and revenue cycle functions in a family practice setting, including coding, charge entry, claims submission, payment posting, denial management, and accounts receivable follow-up. Works closely with the Certified Professional Coder/Biller to ensure coding accuracy, clean claims, and timely reimbursement. Key Responsibilities Assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on clinical documentation Submit and manage electronic and paper insurance claims Verify insurance eligibility and benefits Post payments and reconcile accounts accurately Work and follow up on denials, rejections, and unpaid claims Manage accounts receivable (30/60/90-day aging) Communicate with insurance carriers regarding claims, appeals, and corrections Maintain accurate patient billing records Ensure compliance with HIPAA and payer billing guidelines Support providers and staff with billing-related questions Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent 2-3 years of medical billing and coding experience Experience in Internal Medicine or Family Practice preferred Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding Experience with insurance claims, denials, and AR follow-up Familiar with EHR and practice management systems Ability to work full-time in a fast-paced, in-person office Preferred Qualifications Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred Certification (CPC, CCS, CBCS, or equivalent) Experience with Office Ally Experience with Tebra (Kareo) or similar system Core Skills Attention to detail and accuracy Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Strong communication with providers, staff, and insurers Ability to work independently and as part of a team Physical Requirements Extended periods of sitting and computer use Occasional standing, bending, and light lifting (up to 15 lbs) Full-time, in-office attendance required
Pay:
$22.00 - $25.00 per hour
