Job Description

WCS Healthcare is currently seeking a Collection Specialist for an opportunity with a growing healthcare organization. This role offers the chance to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, supporting patients with billing inquiries and account resolution while delivering compassionate and professional service.
Job Function:
Handle a high volume of inbound and outbound calls (approximately 50-100 calls per day) through the Mitel phone system. Respond to patient inquiries via phone, voicemail, email, and written correspondence. Collect patient payments and process transactions accurately. Work patient correspondence received through mail. Follow up with internal offices regarding billing inquiries via phone, email, or fax. Complete tasks, follow-ups, and special projects as assigned by management. Review and work patient balance reports. Identify accounts eligible for collections and process them according to established procedures. Communicate and follow up with collection agencies as needed. Update and maintain accurate patient demographics and registration information. Obtain and verify liability and school-related insurance when required. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED required. Associate Degree or higher preferred. 3+ years of experience in medical personal collections required. Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding preferred. Experience processing credit card payments preferred. Epic EMR experience preferred.
