Billing/Collections Specialist Job Description:

• Welcome patients and visitors by greeting them professionally and warmly.
• Ensure all necessary and applicable paperwork is completed and uploaded into patient charts for billing and collection purposes.
• Answer, screen, and forward all incoming phone calls, faxes and emails while providing basic information when needed.
• Assist with Insurance Verification for patients as needed through insurance portals and phone calls to insurance carriers.
• Copay and other patient payment collections and posting.
• Record Transactions/create deposit.
• Contact insurance carriers as directed by Billing Supervisor to facilitate reimbursement for services. Learn and fully implement the Athelas EHR and Billing Software System to effectively manage billing and collections for our services. Communicate with our billing software team at Athelas to follow up on claims as needed. Ongoing AR follow-up.
• Contribute to team effort by performing other clerical duties to include but not limited to: filing and organizing documents, photocopying, faxing, basic office organization, etc.
• Responsible for learning and applying all company policies and procedures
• Responsible for keeping up with changes in insurance policies and procedures.

Experience in medical billing processes Excellent Communication skills to explain balances to patients and work through claims with insurance agents is required.
