Job Summary We are seeking an entry-level Medical Biller to join our healthcare team Mondays and Fridays 9am to 5pm with potential for more hours in the future. We are a small office and the office is located in my house in order to keep overhead low. Please do not apply if this type of work environment is not a good fit for you. This role is ideal for individuals interested in developing a career in medical billing and coding. The Medical Biller will be responsible for processing insurance claims, managing medical records, and ensuring accurate billing practices. The position offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems and expand knowledge of medical terminology and coding standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to learn within a supportive environment. Responsibilities Prepare and submit insurance claims using appropriate coding standards such as CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG. Review medical records to ensure accuracy and completeness for billing purposes. Utilize EMR and EHR systems to document patient information and billing data efficiently. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collection processes. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical billing regulations and coding guidelines. Assist with maintaining accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with healthcare policies. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify billing information when necessary. Support the office team with administrative tasks related to medical billing and records management. Requirements Basic understanding of medical terminology, medical records, and healthcare documentation. Familiarity with medical coding including
CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD
coding, and DRG classifications is preferred but not required; training will be provided. Experience with EMR or EHR systems is a plus. Knowledge of medical billing processes and medical collection procedures is advantageous. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new software systems and procedures. Prior experience in a medical office environment or related field is beneficial but not mandatory. Excellent communication skills and a professional attitude towards patient confidentiality and data security.
