Job Description

The Medical Biller and Coder is responsible for a range of billing processes including clean claim submission, claim scrubbing and rejection management. The candidate is responsible for accurate charge entry and timely billing to insurance carriers. Candidate should be flexible and able to multitask in a fast paced setting. 2+ years of prior medical billing experience is required. Knowledge of sleep medicine is preferred but not required. Primary Job Functions include, but are not limited to: Prepare, review and transmit claims using billing software Ensure timely and accurate submission of claims Prepare and submit pre-authorizations Understand denials and complete appropriate steps of action Knowledge of insurance regulations and guidelines Ensures accuracy and completeness of payer requirements and policies prior to timely submission of claims Utilize reports to follow up on unbilled claims and billing delays Identify problems or trending issues and provide solutions Qualifications Certified Coder is preferred High school diploma (or equivalent) is required. College education preferred. 2+ years of data entry of claims processing experience is preferred Advanced knowledge of
CMS 1500
form and Explanation of Benefits (EOB) interpretation Advanced knowledge of CPT, HCPCs and ICS-10 codes Advanced knowledge of insurance billing , collections and insurance terminology Sleep Medicine experience strongly preferred Customer service experience and the ability to work independently are required Key Performance Indicators Charges posted within 48 hours from DOS Resolve rejected status claims within 24 hours All charges posted before month end closing Benefits 401k Paid time off
