Medical Insurance Biller/Coder

Overview Medical Billing and Coding Specialist will be responsible for the coding and collection of routine to complex physician charges and patient data to ensure that claims are submitted to insurance payors in the most compliant, efficient, and expeditious manner possible. Responsibilities Codes routine to complex procedures and diagnoses using ICD, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines, procedures and protocols for government and commercial payers. Responsible daily for correction and resubmission of primary/secondary rejected claims. Interacts with physicians and other care providers regarding billing and documentation policies, procedures, and regulations; obtains clarification of conflicting, ambiguous, or non-specific documentation. Interacts with CFO regarding the implementation of new codes and revision of charge documents. Serves as a resource regarding pre-authorizations, referrals, and estimating charges prior to a patient's visit. Requirements Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required Orthopedic experience preferred but not required Knowledge of ICD-10 medical coding, reimbursement guidelines and medical terminology required; Ability to prioritize conflicting needs; handle matters expeditiously, proactively, and follow-through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures; Ability to effectively communicate with various levels of staff and customers; Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment; and Strong facilitation and influencing skills; confident and articulate
