Debt collection payment plan Medical insurance appeals management Payment posting in medical billing systems Workers' compensation Month-end close 2 years Full Job Description Our busy AAAHC-accredited Ambulatory Surgery Center is seeking an experienced Medical Biller / Collector to join our revenue cycle team. This position is responsible for accurate claim submission, insurance follow-up, denial resolution, payment posting, and patient account collections for surgical facility claims. The ideal candidate has ASC, outpatient surgery, anesthesia, or hospital outpatient billing experience, strong knowledge of payer guidelines, and the ability to work accounts aggressively to maintain low A/R days. Responsibilities Submit accurate electronic claims for ambulatory surgery procedures Review operative reports, implant charges, anesthesia time, and facility fees for correct billing Follow up on unpaid, underpaid, or denied claims with Medicare, HMSA, HMAA, UHA, and commercial payers Prepare and submit appeals with supporting operative and clinical documentation Post insurance and patient payments accurately Reconcile EOBs, ERA reports, and payment variances Work aging reports to reduce outstanding A/R balances Resolve claim edits, rejections, and eligibility issues Communicate with physician offices regarding missing authorizations or coding questions Generate patient statements and assist with payment plans Maintain HIPAA compliance and payer documentation standards Assist with month-end revenue reconciliation and reporting Qualifications Minimum 2 years of medical billing and collections experience Ambulatory Surgery Center or surgical billing experience strongly preferred Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, modifiers, and UB/HCFA claim forms Experience with Medicare, workers' comp, and commercial insurance follow-up Strong denial management and appeals experience Familiarity with surgery scheduling, authorizations, and operative documentation Excellent Excel and billing software skills Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently Preferred Experience billing facility fees, implants, and orthopedics Knowledge of Hawaii payer rules Experience with HST, SRS, or surgery center EMR/PM systems Benefits Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off 401(k) Paid holidays Monday-Friday schedulePay:
