Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Insurance Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of managed care, dental insurance processes, and medical office operations. This role is vital in ensuring accurate insurance verification, claims processing, and effective communication between patients, providers, and insurance companies. The Dental Insurance Coordinator will play a key part in streamlining administrative workflows and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA. Responsibilities Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits prior to appointments to ensure eligibility and plan details are accurate. Manage insurance claims submissions, follow-up, and resolution to facilitate timely reimbursements. Review and interpret dental insurance policies, including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems for accurate billing. Maintain comprehensive medical records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Communicate effectively with insurance companies to resolve claim denials or discrepancies promptly. Assist patients with understanding their dental benefits, coverage limitations, and out-of-pocket costs. Collaborate with the dental office team to ensure seamless integration of insurance processes into daily operations. Stay current on industry updates related to managed care policies, coding standards, and healthcare compliance requirements. Qualifications Prior experience in medical or dental office administration with a focus on insurance verification and claims processing. Strong knowledge of managed care practices, medical terminology, and medical records management. Familiarity with CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems used in dental billing. Experience working with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in handling medical records and insurance documentation. Effective communication skills for liaising with insurance providers and educating patients about their coverage. Office experience within a healthcare setting is preferred; dental office experience is highly advantageous.
