Job Description

Seeking Experienced Medical Biller Elite Ambulance is a leading private ambulance service serving the Chicagoland area with reliable, compassionate, and professional medical transportation. Backed by a management team with more than 65 years of ambulance and healthcare industry experience, Elite Ambulance is committed to delivering a higher standard of care through responsiveness, expertise, flexibility, and a team-first approach. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our billing and revenue cycle team. This role is responsible for supporting the billing, collections, documentation, accounts receivable, and compliance processes related to ambulance and medical transportation services. The ideal candidate is organized, accurate, comfortable working with billing systems, and able to communicate effectively with internal teams, facilities, physicians, and outside partners to ensure proper billing documentation and timely claims follow-up. Key Responsibilities As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will help support the full medical billing process, including: Reviewing, maintaining, and following billing and collection policies related to ambulance and medical transportation services. Ensuring billing procedures are properly communicated, administered, and followed. Completing charge entry, claims review, billing corrections, and accounts receivable follow-up. Monitoring accounts receivable, with a focus on reducing balances over 120 days. Reviewing claims, documentation, and billing records for accuracy and completeness. Helping identify, research, and resolve billing issues, claim denials, procedural issues, and account discrepancies. Maintaining billing and audit systems while recommending opportunities to improve billing workflows and processing technology. Preparing timely reports related to billing results, collection activity, problem accounts, productivity, and other departmental metrics. Recording charge entry and accounts receivable follow-up productivity statistics on a weekly basis. Ensuring required documentation is submitted to physicians, facilities, and other necessary parties to support proper billing. Supporting quality control efforts, internal audits, and performance reviews for billing-related processes. Staying current with regulations, payer requirements, and process changes that impact medical billing and collections. Communicating important billing updates, documentation needs, or procedural changes to the appropriate team members. Qualifications Previous experience in medical billing, healthcare billing, ambulance billing, EMS billing, revenue cycle management, or accounts receivable preferred. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to review medical billing documentation and identify missing or incorrect information. Strong organizational and follow-up skills. Comfortable working with billing systems, claim records, reports, and productivity tracking. Ability to communicate professionally with internal staff, healthcare facilities, physicians' offices, and payer contacts. Understanding of insurance claims, denials, collections, and accounts receivable processes preferred. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Preferred Experience Ambulance billing or EMS billing experience. Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, or facility billing. Experience working with aging accounts receivable. Familiarity with medical documentation requirements for transportation billing. Work Environment This position is part of Elite Ambulance's administrative and billing operations team.
