Medical Biller/Collector

Busy hand surgeons practice with 2 locations, looking for medical biller/ collector who has a minimum of 2 years experience with the following: Electronic medical records (EMR), Able to read and understand an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) for posting of payments and/or working insurance denials and writing appeals; Knowledge and experience with work comp claims; working Aging Reports, calling insurance companies and patients on outstanding balances; Processing electronic and paper claims; Review and verify patient insurance; Speak with patients over the phone and in the clinic to answer billing inquiries and set up payment plans and collect payments on accounts. Duties Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper coding and billing compliance. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective collection strategies and communication with insurance companies. Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payments, and collections within EMR system. Collaborate with medical staff to clarify documentation discrepancies and improve billing accuracy. Assist in resolving billing issues. Qualifications Proven experience in medical billing and collections within a healthcare setting. Strong knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-10 coding systems, and medical terminology. Familiarity with medical office operations and experience using EMR/EHR systems for billing purposes. Excellent understanding of medical records management and documentation requirements for billing accuracy. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple claims simultaneously.
